Undergraduate Programs(For the 2009 Academic Year)

1. Application Requirements
Those whose nationality is other than Japanese and who meet all of the following conditions of(1)and(2)may apply.

(1)Applicants must fulfill one of the following conditions a~d.

  • Must have completed the equivalent of 12 years of Japanese school education (in accordance with standings in their countries formal education system) or are expected to do so by March in the year of admission. Or, alternatively, those who are approved by the Japanese Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as having received the equivalent of the same.
  • Must be 18 years or over as of March 31st in the year of admission, and hold an International Baccalaureate supplied by the International Bureau of Baccalaureate founded on Swiss Law.
  • Must be 18 years or over as of March 31st in the year of admission, and hold an Abitur supplied by Germany.
  • Must be 18 years or over as of March 31st in the year of admission, and hold a Baccalaureate supplied by France.


(2)As deemed by the Independent Administrative Institution Japan Student Services Organization, applicants are required to have taken the 2008(or thereafter)Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, and have achieved in it the following results:
  • 230 points or higher in Japanese
  • 210 points or higher in 2 subjects not including Japanese(Arts, Sciences or Mathematics) *Please note that the subjects for the "Test for Japanese Overseas Study" differ according to Majors. Subjects for the Liberal Arts test include Japanese, General Arts subjects and Mathematics(Course 1); subjects for the Sciences test include Japanese, Science(a choice of two from Physics, Chemistry or Biology)and Mathematics(Course 2).

2. Required Documents
The following documents are required when applying to an undergraduate course.
  • Application Form
  • High School Graduation Diploma or Certificate of Qualifications equivalent to 12 years of Japanese school education (International Baccalaureate Diploma, etc. – original required.)
  • High School Academic Transcript(s) equivalent to 12 years of Japanese school education
  • Application Fee (\17,000 in 2009)
  • Photograph
  • An original of grade results from the 2008 (or thereafter) Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students.
  • Certificate of Foreign Residents Registration (status of residence) (required for foreigners living in Japan)

Further, some of the required documents must be submitted on forms provided by the University.

All foreign language documents must be accompanied by Japanese translations.

3. Criteria for Selection of Applicants
Selection of applicants to the university will be made according to a combination of the results of the following four items.
  • The results of a Japanese Language Test set by the university.
  • The results of an English Language Test set by the university.
  • The results of an examination concerning the major chosen by the applicant and an interview(varies according to the major applied for)
  • Reference Material:
    a) results of the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students.
    b) grades and certificate of graduation from the last school that the applicant attended.

4. Application Deadline, Examination Dates, Announcement of Results
The usual deadline for application is in early-January of the year of admission.
Examinations are given in the middle of February of the year of Admission.
Announcement of acceptance is made in middle to late February of the year of admission.
The beginning of the academic year is early April.

5. Requests for Application Forms and Information
Details of Application Procedures, Students Selection, Admission Fees, Tuition Fees, and Admission Forms are available on request.
Requests for application forms and information may be made by mail with a stamped, selfaddressed envelop to the Entrance Examination Division from mid-June.
